On Friday, November 6th, the Carmel Greyhounds traveled to Brownsburg to take on the Bulldogs in a thrilling Sectional 5 Championship game! The 5th ranked 8-2 Greyhounds take on the 4th ranked 8-1  Brownsburg Bulldogs in a game that will be one for the record books! It was a win or go home situation as the Hounds did not face off against the Bulldogs in the regular season. It was the Greyhounds against the Bulldogs, and here is your recap for the gripping game!

The Hounds received the ball first, but after a three and out, they were forced to punt. The Bulldogs came out on the field ready to go. However, Scott Hudson came ready to go! Hudson recovers a Brownsburg fumble giving the Hounds the ball on the Brownsburg 9 yard line! Although, the Brownsburg D was able to hold off the Hounds from scoring! The Bulldogs answer with a big goal line stand. They have the ball on their own 1 yard line with 7 minutes to go in the 1st quarter. But, after another big play, the Carmel D were able to get on the board first with a safety! The Greyhounds took a 2-0 lead with a safety early on in this Sectional Championship game. With the Carmel O coming back on the field, they were able to score! Zach Osborne found Daniel Mullins over the middle on a 69 yard catch and run in the endzone! The Hounds lead the Bulldogs 9-0!  Shortly after, there was a bizarre play on a punt for the Bulldogs. The snap flew out of the back of the end zone for another Carmel Greyhound safety! This might be the first time you’ve ever seen it, but the score was 11-0 in favor of the Greyhounds!

As the second quarter began, the Hounds continued their scoring drives! This time it’s Zach White on the ground from 3 yards out. The Hounds were ahead of the Bulldogs 18-0! But you couldn’t count Brownsburg out yet! The Bulldogs answer with a touchdown of their own. Brandon Burks runs it in from 5 yards out to bring the score to 18-7 with 9 minutes to go in the 2nd quarter! After a back and forth battle all throughout the second quarter, it wasn’t until there were two minutes to go when the game began to heat up. After a big stop from the Carmel D on a Brownsburg fourth down, the Hounds threw an interception! However, the Bulldogs were not able to score before going into the locker room. At half, the Carmel Greyhounds lead the Brownsburg Bulldogs with a score of 18-7!

Coming out of the locker room, both teams were ready to resume battle. After a pair of three and outs for both teams, Brownsburg would fumble on their next drive! The 3rd Bulldog fumble of the night sets up the Greyhounds and Lleyton Lukowski, who checked in at quarterback, with some great field position. This allowed the Hounds to extend their lead to 21-7 thanks to a Spencer Hanna field goal to close the third

At the start of the fourth, the Greyhound D continued to show no mercy against the Bulldogs! Both Owen Schafer and Tamaris Springfield forced interceptions to obtain the win for the Hounds! The final score would be 21-7!
