Carmel High School Unified Football squad ended an unforgettable season, one marked by grit, togetherness, and memories made . Although the pursuit ultimately fell short in the sectional championship against the Warren Central Warriors, the Greyhounds’ path to the title game was unforgettable.
Carmel excelled during the postseason, claiming a thrilling first-round win against the Fishers Tigers. That energy carried over into their second sectional contest, where the Greyhounds took down the Noblesville Millers in a game that showcased their growing confidence and teamwork.
But in the championship game, where this team really proved why they are in the championship game. Against a tough Warren Central team, the Greyhounds battled tooth and nail from the beginning. Will Engeldow was the defensive rock, battling hard with his signature grit and determination. Riley Alderman added her own kind of energy to the mix—the signature summersaults generating deafening cheers from the crowd and boosting team morale even when the scoreboard wasn’t being so kind.
In spite of heroic effort, the Warriors were a bit too much, putting an end to Carmel’s title hopes in tough competition.
Either way, there is no doubt this team made their mark on the tournament.
Aside from the wins, this year was all about the incredible relationships formed between athletes and partners on the playing field. Unified Sports at Carmel continues to show what can be accomplished when sportsmanship, community, and heart come together.
Congratulations to the Greyhounds on a remarkable season.

Cooper Sanders is a senior in his 4th year of radio and has been appointed as sports manager for this school year! Cooper has a variety of different things in radio that keeps him busy, but his absolute favorite thing is broadcasting varsity sports with his co-managers, such as Carmel football and basketball or even swimming. Another thing that he enjoys is his weekly live shows, The Starting 5 and The Sideline Cast, where he talks about all things sports. Although he accomplished his main goal in becoming sports manager, he still has big expectations for himself as he is looking to win a national and state award this year. Throughout the year, Cooper plans on passing on his knowledge to the juniors and sophomores so that the station is in the best sport possible when he leaves. Outside of radio, you can catch him being a Carmel dads club coach and player in the fall, and supporting the Colts and Pacers.
