Back to Back champions, the girls cross country team has done it again. Bringing home Carmel’s 2nd state championship this fall after the boys tennis team won earlier this season.
This years field was even more competitive than last year when Carmel won by just 15 points with a score of 76 outrunning Concordia Lutheral who scored 91.
This year Carmel scored just 100 points but it was still enough to let them lift that State Trophy.
Concordia Luthran was once again right behind Carmel with a score of 129. Both teams scoring more than last year but Carmel winning with a larger margin this year.
Sadie Foley was the first runner to run in for Carmel finishing 3rd, an incredible performance after fracturing her ankle at state for track and field. She continued to race after breaking it and helped the team lift the state title for the first time since 2025.
Larkin taylor and Annabel Pollert in 10th and 22nd place respectively. Rounding out the hounds scoring was Margo Halle (38th) and Kaitlyn Oshimura (73rd)
The Hounds aren’t finished yet however. They will be heading back to Lavern Gibson November 16th as they attempt to punch their ticket back to Nike Nationals. But first they will need to place top 2 at Nike Regionals, or get an at large bid, like last year.
Last year they were able to place 15th at Nationals and this year are looking to one up that.
“Having come off of last year and having had that experience weve just been taking what we learned from last year and looking at things were deficient in and trying to correct that.”
Head Coach Scott William on how the team took their experience last year and have been taking it into this season.
