Blog Post#35- Rileython Week 2 (Amelia Dickson)

Katelyn Conley

Happy Monday! To kick off the second week of Rileython, I had the opportunity to interview Amelia Dickson! Dickson is a senior here at Carmel. She is heavily involved with Cabinet and Dance Marathon! The purpose of the interview was to ask her what Rileython and Dance Marathon means to her, and why these events are important.

“Dance Marathon means family, community, and helping others to me as I have met some of my best friends through Dance Marathon and Cabinet.” Dickson also mentioned that her overall goal is to help more people get involved, which is why Rileython is a great idea! “With Rileython, it helps raise money and awareness for the kids! They need our help now more than ever!” She said that Rileython and Dance Marathon are important to her because they all help and support the kids at Riley!

Finally, I asked Dickson what was her why? Why do you get involved? Why do you do what you do? Why should people tune in to Rileython? Dickson commented, “I originally got involved with Dance Marathon in middle school with Clay’s Dance Marathon and was so amazed by the stories from these Riley kids and their families and how much Riley has impacted their lives. When I got to my junior year of high school I was able to see the amazing impact that the Riley doctors and nurses have on their patients as I became a Riley patient myself after I was diagnosed with an auto-immune disease.”
