Oi, Meus Amigos!
As month two comes to a close, all I can think about is the food.
Why? My second host mom is a chef so I will try all the foods possible.
In Brazil, food is a love language, and in my two months here, I have eaten so much delicious food that you all deserve a proper top five foods list. So here it is!
- Pão de queijo
This delicious snack is a staple to my state, Minas Gerais, but it was also invented here. It’s a gooey cheese bread that is always good. In the morning, afternoon, or night, you can always eat pão de queijo
- Churrasco
One of my favorite Brazilian meals, Churrasco is a Brazilian barbecue, featuring sausage, picanha, steak, chicken wings, and coraçãozinho. Churrasco is one of my favorite meals to share with my family as nothing beats eating that deliciousness that is crispy grilled foods.
- Coxinha
Coxinha is a tasty snack shaped like a chicken thigh. It is usually filled with chicken and catupiry (cheese), and it is one of the most tasty snacks to eat.
- Feijoada
Feijoada is the national dish of Brasil. It is a delicious black bean stew with chunks of pork. You can eat it alone, with rice, or even sprinkle farofa on top. It is so filling and one of the best dishes in my opinion.
- Brigadeiro
A sweet chocolate treat, made from Nescal or Toddy (chocolate powder) and sweetened condensed milk, this is the best dessert in Brazil. While you can eat it in balls, Brazilians tend to eat it by the spoon from a bowl. Brigadeiro is the best Brazilian dessert there is!
Overall, food is the best way to experience new cultures, and the food of Brazil has not disappointed me yet!
