As January comes to a close, as well as my big trip through the Nordeste region of Brasil; it’s easy to say I understand how large this country is now.
Brasil is so huge, having 3,287,597 square miles, and all of it is beautiful. In the past month, I’ve rode through sand dunes, experienced carnaval, and gone down a natural water slide in a waterfall. All within the different states in the country.
The first cities I saw was Brasilia and Lençóis. Brasilia is the Federative District, which is similar to Washington DC in America. Lençóis is an inland city in Bahia and it has beautiful water falls and natural pools.
After these cities we started our journey through beach cities. We visited Maceió, Natal, Recife, Salvador, and Porto Seguro. Learning about the histories of the Brazilian coast. My personal favorite city and beach was Recife, and its beach Porto De Galinhas.
Finally I made it to Rio De Janeiro and this city is a must visit. With amazing views from Pão de Açúcar and Cristo Redentor, the city transforms beyond just a city. The beaches and historical sights make the visit worthwhile, as well as the never ending urge to sing “The Girl from Ipanema” as well as Barry Manilow’s hit “Copacabana”.
Overall, January has proved to me that the Nordeste area of Brasil has been the most breathtaking area.
