Romeo and Juliet
February 18, 2016
Carmel High School’s winter performance was Romeo and Juliet, using the original scripting with many modern additions. The cast and crew made the play more relatable and enjoyable for high schoolers who may not be Shakespeare fans, and used a modern soundtrack as well as upscaled props to do so.

The way the announcer described the play made it sound more desirable to see. The modern twist on a classical play turned a piece of art into a pleasurable experience. The only problem was when the actuality played, it only played on the left side of the headphones.

After listening to this, I am very sad I didn’t get to see the show. It sounds like the bonds of the actors was what bought the production to life. It was interesting to hear about the technical aspects that went into the production.

I didn’t get a chance to see Romeo and Juliet, but it’s very cool to get a bit of an idea of what’s been going on behind the scenes, as well as what’s different about this play compared to other productions of the classic. I liked the inclusion of multiple points of view from people who were involved in the show.

I really like how Carmel High School was so unique with this play. They decided to change the play so it fit today’s standards a bit more. This also most likely made this play more enjoyable for students.

The play was very well done, and I really enjoyed the modern take on the classic story. I also liked hearing what some of the actors had to say in this report because I was interested to hear their point of view. I have never read Romeo and Juliet, but after listening to this broadcast I feel like I know much more about the book/play.

It was interesting to see that there is so much more work that goes into production than what people can see when they just go to see the show. Overall, I think this is a great story. I like how we can get into the minds of the people who are putting the show together.
