18 games in, three more to go for the Greyhounds boys basketball team. The boys have won three of their last four, with their lone loss coming in overtime to the 12-9 HSE Royals where the Hounds led by double digits at half. Of the Hounds four losses, two have come by three points and two have come by six points, showing that the Hounds know how to stick in a game. Bellarmine commit Evan Harrell and Cathedral transfer Cash Daniels continue to lead the team in scoring, with Harrell at 16.3 PPG and Daniels at 14.4, but for Carmel it’s about looking at that next man up, who has been Julian Vogt as of the last month. He has found his way into double digit scoring totals this season at 10.1 PPG and is now shooting an absurd 55% from beyond the arc.
The Greyhounds will be on the road this weekend. On Friday they face off @ Warren Central, who while they are just 5-12 on the season, have won three of their last four. Saturday night the Hounds travel all the way to Providence High School, for their first matchup of the year. Last season, the Hounds lost to Warren Central by one point and defeated the Providence Pioneers by 20. The last game of the regular season will be a home game where the Hounds will host the Crispus Attucks Tigers, a squad that currently sits at 13-5. In last year’s matchup the Greyhounds lost 47-39.
This last stretch could be a big opportunity for some key players to get some more rest against more inferior opponents. Either way, the Greyhounds need to look at this as a chance to grab three more wins and end the season with their best record since the infamous 2021 state championship season.
