Captain, State Champion, and All-American, Quinn Wu embodies what it takes to be a great leader and teammate, with an infectious smile. He has to battle through adversity many times in his 4-year career at Carmel. He missed almost his full Junior season due to injury, but was able to come back and help lead his team to a state championship, in a game where he was knocked down many times but always got back up. On the field, Quinn is a great teammate, but off the field hes also a great friend to many and a student.
To Quinn, playing at Carmel has meant so much; he says there’s a sense of pride to represent Carmel, especially alongside many others. He says working with a great group of guys has really influenced him and taught him some great lessons along the way.
Head Coach Shane Schmidt was honored to have Quinn as a student athlete in his program. He has loved watching Quinn persevere through injury and help lead Carmel to a State Championship. One moment that really shows who Quinn is to coach Schmidt was Quinn’s spectacular free kick against Fishers, which, while it may not have seemed like it could have gone in, Quinn was able to slot it in and put in the only goal for Carmel.
Quinn shows what it means to be an amazing student-athlete at Carmel, and he was able to cap off his career on a high note with a State Championship. Quinn is planning to attend Indiana University to study finance and will play some form of organized soccer.
As Quinn heads off into his future one piece of advice Coach Schmidt wanted to leave with him is “Just keep smiling”.
