The Carmel Greyhounds head into Friday night’s game at home against the Pike Red Devils with a record of 10-1, but they have been in a couple late game scares. It is now 5 games in a row where a game has gone down to the wire for the Hounds, and 3 of those 5 all ended in one possession. Even last game on the road against Columbus North on January 17th, the Hounds were able to win by 7, but weren’t able to get the job done until overtime.
This may be good for the Hounds though, as this may be the toughest stretch of the season so far. Though Pike’s record is just 12-3, they have three top 100 players in the nation and are coached by former NBA player Jeff Teague. On the 24th, the Hounds go on the road to visit the 7-7 Brownsburg Bulldogs, but it is next weekend the Hounds play at home against the top-ranked Fishers Tigers, the squad that came in second place last year. That game will be played on the 31st, just a day after they visit Ben Davis High School, to play against the 10-3 Giants, who are 10-1 in their last 11 games.
Obviously, 4-0 in this 4-game window is the goal, but if the team can go 3-1, or even 2-2 in this stretch, it could be very telling about how far this team can go come playoff time, and who the Hounds want to be this season.
