Carmel Girls Cross Country has been dominant on every course they’ve run this year, and it looks like no one will be able to stop them as they attempt to go back-to-back at state this year.
At the Hamilton County Invitational, Carmel was dominant from start to finish, with Carmel’s own Larkin Taylor and Sadie Foley battling it out for the lead. Larkin Taylor was able to pull ahead and finished first with a time of 17:33, her personal best by 18 seconds. Sadie Foley was close behind, setting her own PB with a time of 17:35. This was also Sadie’s first competitive race since suffering an injury at state for track and field last season. The rest of the Varsity runners put in strong performances to lift the team to victory with a season low score of just 25 points. 5th – Junior Annabel Polert, 6th – Sophomore Margo Halle, and 11th – Senior Kaitlyn Oshimura.
On September 6th, the team was back in action at Brownsburg for the Brownsburg Invite. While having no runner place #1 individually, Carmel did claim the 2, 3, and 4 spots individually held by Annabel Pollert, Larkin Taylor, and Sadie Foley. Margo Halle in 7th and Kaitlyn Oshimura in 17th rounded out the scorers for Carmel. Carmel was able to take victory with a score of just 33 points, 67 fewer points than Franklin Central in second.
The JV Team has been just as dominant in these races, winning both, as well as Senior Ellie Smith taking home the individual victory in both races herself. At Brownsburg, the JV team established its dominance by taking home places 1 through 11, all under a time of 21 minutes.
The Hounds will be traveling down south to Brown County for the Eagle Creek Classic, where they look to take home another win to add to their impressive season. If you want to watch the hounds race a little closer to home, then they will be back on September 20 at Northview, looking to get a win on their home turf.
