With lacrosse season coming to an end, the Boys Varsity team came out of the gate strong, and the scoreboard proves it. They have been putting up double-digit scores in over 90% of their games. With just two games remaining, the Hounds have been outstanding, holding an impressive 13–1 record on the year.
On May 1st, the team travelled to Hamilton Southeastern to take on the Royals in a battle that stayed close until the final whistle. The Hounds opened up the scoring with Jr #20 Evan Bardwell and the Royals responded. The Hounds kept the pressure on the Royals and scored a couple more putting them ahead. Despite a late push from the Royals, they couldn’t keep up, and the Hounds secured an 11–9 victory.
The following day, the Hounds returned home to face the Detroit Country Day Yellow Jackets in yet another tight matchup. The Hounds struck early with a goal from Jr #2 Lincoln O’Leary, setting the tone for the game. Both teams traded goals throughout, but the Hounds stayed composed under pressure and executed when it mattered most, coming away with another double-digit victory with the final score being the Hounds 10 and the Yellow Jackets 8.
With momentum on their side and only two games left in the regular season, the Hounds look to finish strong and carry their success into the postseason. They will take on the #44 ranked Cathedral Fighting Irish here in the coming days on May 8th at home at 7:30pm.
With the JV now 5-7-1 they are finishing the season off with their last game of the season coming up. The Hounds travelled to Hamilton Southeastern and took a devastating loss to the Royals 14-1, Joon Yang came into the game fired up and scored the Hounds only goal of the game. According to Midfielder Will Cieslak “We didn’t underestimate the Royals, we just didn’t bring the energy we have had in past games to the game on the road.”
Both teams will remain at home this weekend to take on the Cathedral Fighting Irish on May 8th with JV kicking the night off with a 6pm game, and following the end of that game the Varsity Hounds will take the field for a 8pm game here at Murray Stadium.
Take a listen to listen to what Midfielder and Defense Sr #17 Matthew Quigley had to say about the team’s performance and what will motivate them throughout the postseason.
