The Carmel boys Lacrosse teams started their season strong, winning their first game on the road against St. Xavier in Louisville, KY. The Varsity team got the job done with a game that was almost a walk in the park for them, with the final score being 16-7. They then brought that momentum home, securing three more back-to-back wins.
Looking back at the Varsity’s home opener against the North Central Panthers, the boys got an early lead by halftime. They kept the pressure on the Panthers and ended up winning 19-1. Brothers Jack and Ike Stitle led the scoring for the hounds as they combined had 14 pts. Ike had 6 Goals and 3 assists while his younger brother Jack had 2 goals and 3 assists.
The JV team also played the Panthers in their home opener and took a big lead early on, with lots of players scoring. They ended up beating the Panthers at home with a final score of 12-1. The lead scorer from this game was #17 June Yang has he racked up 7 points with 4 goals and 3 assists
A few days later, both teams played Forest Hills Rangers, a great team from Michigan, so they knew it would be a tough game. The JV hounds started the night with a close fight all the way to the end, but they just missed out, losing 6-5. However, the Varsity hounds crushed the Forest Hills rangers at Murray, it was another easy win for them. They made a lot of big plays and had an amazing performance all around, which showed in the final score, 18-3.
Rivals of Forest Hills, East Grand Rapids came to Murray and they did the complete same thing that the Rangers did. The Hounds JV team took a tough 6-5 loss. The Varsity team on the other hand continues their win streak to 4 in a row now with a demanding win 15-3.
Looking ahead the JV and Varsity team will go head to head with one of their rivals, the Westfield Shamrocks at Murray Stadium today with the JV game starting at 6pm while Varsity starts at 8pm. If I were you, I would stay tuned into 91.3 WHJE for more updates
